These terms cover the nihowdy app and this website. By using either, you agree to them.

Who can use nihowdy

You must be 13 or older. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to buy a subscription.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you write and record. You give us permission to process it to run the service — for example, sending a message to our text provider to generate a reply, or scoring a recording. We do not use your content to train models.

Do not use nihowdy to send unlawful, harassing, or infringing content. We may suspend accounts that do.

Our content

Lessons, audio, the tone analysis, and the app itself belong to us or our licensors. Use them inside the app; do not redistribute or resell them. Dictionary and stroke data carry their own licences, listed in the app's About screen.

AI features

A language model can be wrong. We validate its output — structure, character set, difficulty — and fall back to safe content when it fails, but you should treat explanations as study help, not as an authority. Tone scores are computed by our own signal processing.

Availability

We aim to keep the service running, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. We may change or retire features; if we remove something you paid for, we will make it right.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have that cannot be waived.

Governing law

The laws of the State of Texas apply, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
