Support
The support mailbox opens with the App Store release. Until then, the fastest way to reach the person building this is the contact address on the App Store listing.
Before you write: most reports are about the microphone or a tone score, and both answers are below. If the app crashes, tell us the device, the iOS version, and the screen you were on — that is usually enough to reproduce it.
Common questions
The tone studio says it couldn't hear me
That message is deliberate: when the recording is too quiet or too noisy, we say so instead of guessing at a score. Move closer to the microphone, avoid a fan or a busy room, and try again. On iOS, check Settings → nihowdy → Microphone.
Why does my score change between attempts?
Because your voice does. The score compares your pitch contour with the reference contour for that syllable. Calibrating your range (onboarding → hum low, hum high) makes the comparison more accurate, especially for level tones.
AI features are off. Is the app still usable?
Yes. Lessons, the review queue, and on-device tone scoring all work without sending anything to an AI provider. Only the tutor and the coaching tips need it. You can change this in Settings → AI features.
How do I cancel Pro?
On iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → nihowdy → Cancel. On the web, use the manage link in your account email. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Your data → Delete my account. That removes your progress, your threads, and any saved recordings, and tells our subscription provider to delete the subscriber record. Cancel the subscription separately with the App Store.
Can I get my data?
Settings → Your data → Export gives you a JSON file with everything we store about you.
Something is wrong with the Chinese
Tell us the lesson and the sentence. Content ships only after a native speaker reviews it, but mistakes happen, and a report gets it fixed.
Accessibility
nihowdy supports Dynamic Type and screen readers, and respects Reduce Motion. If something is hard to use, write to us — accessibility reports get priority.
